A little bit of this and a little bit of that...........before and after Xmas...........................

Finally.......I'm back on track updating my blog. Humppff!!!!! Mummy has occupied the blog doing her huge update on her visit to the Spanish galgos so I've patiently had to abide my time. But finally it's my turn to hit the keyboard! The Xmas pictures are a bit out-of-date.......so this is just a little bit of this and a little bit of that from the past month...... :)

Winter FINALLY arrived in Sweden....but it took a long time coming and our Xmas was all green. In fact it was the mildest Xmas on record for more than 30 years!!!!

LOOK.........this really could be summer, a bit like Mummy's Xmas's down under in kiwiland. This is me and some of my daycare friends posing for a Xmas picture.......but it's just not the same without snow!!!!
Mummy & I met Santa one morning......and I was thinking VERY hard about my wish list. Should I make a wish for myself......or should I wish something nice for the Spanish galgos? Mummy has told me about the plight of the galgos and I often look at Mummy and think.....wow, what a very lucky boy I am to have the wonderful life I have.
So my wish to Santa was: finding forever homes for the galgos & giving them love & happiness!

Who are you? You don't look like a dog!
My name is Milou, what's yours?

Hmmmm.........this lot didn't show any interest in me whatsoever. Mummy mentioned something about having had a hard night out!!!!! Not sure what that means.........

Me & Lamb Chop wishing one and all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Yey........... a pre-Xmas dogwalk with my oldest friend Astor!
He's known me ALL my life and is definitely my BFF!!!!!

Yippeeeee!!!!!!!
A surprise parcel has arrived from the US!!!! What could it be?????

Awwwww...........look!!!!! My dear whippet friend Carter in New York, has sent me another Lamb Chop - the one to the right!!!!!

I truly adore my Lamb Chop friends. They are silky soft and sooooo cuddly and they make squeakies in all four paws and the tummy! I doz love squeakies :)
......and another surprise arrived in the mail. This is Rupert Whippet's charity calendar. All the money generated from people buying calendars go to rescue whippets in need in the UK. That is so lovely and Rupert is such a cool dude......I really admire him!

Modern art in the underground.............

..............taken to new levels with me posing next to it!

Mummy asked me what my favourite colour is.......and I answered rainbow!

Hehehe.........bet I fooled you ALL now!!!!! Cause you thought this was me but it's my dear brother Lucky showing off his new winter coat!

........and here I am showing off MY new winter coat........my piece de résistance!!!!! Haute couture, designed by the very talented Christel Dell'Aguila!

..........and here without the fur collar.

Sigh...........Mummy takes far too long taking pictures!!!!!!
All those duckies behind me.......waiting to make friends with me!!!!!!

We found a cave on our walk with BIG ice taps. Mummy's quite good at finding strange stuff on our walks.....and of course it has to be documented!!!!

Back at doggy daycare and one of the staff has decided a group of us need a "different walk". So she took 15 of us on a LONG bikeride round a nearby national park. Me and two others were on the leash and the rest ran loose!!!!
NEVER a dull moment at doggy daycare :)

If there was no snow before Christmas then what's fallen since has made up for it!!!!!
I like the snow as long as I'm warmly dressed.

........and snow is perfect for a morning wash of your face!

When you find stuff outside and EAT it despite Mummy's screams of NOOOOOO!!!!!!........then once home Mummy brings out the toothbrush and my pearly whites get fumigated!!!!!

My dear wee friend Douglas - all buckled up in the backseat of the car, ready for a visit to my Grandparents and my brother Lucky!

.........and I'm also safely buckled up.

Ahhhhh look!!!!!!!! Mummy LOVES me so much that she even has a frothy picture of me in her cappuccino each morning. Now that has to be TRUE LOVE :)

Mummy does lots of baking and since I LOVE dough, I've also started baking. Here I'm assisted by my Lamb Chop friends and we are doing an important quality check of the dough!!!!

Zzzzzzzzz..........updating my blog is pretty exhausting so I've succumbed to heavenly snoozings.
Until next time, stay cool........ bottle up with LOVE and share it all around!

112 Carlota Galgos revisited.........

I'm back in Malaga, only 3 1/2 months since my first visit. I think I've caught the "112 CC bug" and once you've got it, there is no cure, you have it for life!
A word of warning - it is VERY contagious!!! ;)

Finally I'm here again, full of anticipation to very soon be arriving at the finca!!!
Hurray, hurray, hurray.........arrival at the finca in the most beautiful van in the world!!!!!
And inside those gates is sooooo much fury love :)

Greetings first by family dogs Clara and Niebla
......and a very special moment saying hi to our beloved Mr Ebs.
Such a special, special boy he is.......

Wow.........my heart is brimming with love and a wonderful "feel good" feeling upon seeing these gorgeous fur babies. And I smile hugely seeing them in their warm cosy pj's. So loved, so beautifully taken care of. I have the audacity to say there is no other refuge that provides so much love and caring for their dogs!

Hang on sweethearts.......I'm coming in now!

Do I look HAPPY????
Well I tell you, when entering the orchard you are literally bombarded with fury love. A magical moment every time I went in and the feeling when they greeted me is a feeling I nurture deep in my heart.

Our gorgeous, unique Queen of Galgos - Lady Charl!

So what has changed since my last visit? Well of the 20 dogs I got to know in September, only three remain (Zoe, Leo & Lady). All the others have gone off to loving forever homes. A few locally but the majority to different countries. Amazing and relentless work gives wonderful results. Now the finca is full again with 20 dogs and already some 10 - 12 are reserved and will be embarking on their final journey to forever homes in the next 1 - 3 months.
There is no beginning or end to rescue work, it's ongoing 24/7. It's a very special lifestyle, a calling, a deep desire and wish to make a difference. And that's exactly what 112 Carlota Galgos does. The chain of love goes on forever. Dogs receiving love for the first time in their lives and new Mamas & Papas receiving endless beautiful love from these precious souls when they reach their families.

There are no monetary rewards in rescue work. The reward for Charl & family is one of immense happiness, satisfaction and pride when sending off a dog to its forever home. Mission completed........now on to the next one, and the next one.....and the next one.......
112 Carlota Galgos truly make this world a better place and there are many of us that can contribute and support them in the phenomenal and inspirational work they do. This is teamwork and our collective love for the galgos can move mountains. The galgos plight was NOT meant to be........so we owe them a decent life. That's our goal, love and happiness for the galgos........now and always.

Hungry dogs waiting for breakfast.........

Fury love is beautiful love.....you can never have too much of it!

Dioni with BIG smile even though he's doing nasty sewage work!!!!!

Mama Charl has love & cuddles for all. Here a special moment with adorable Lady.

Dogs all happy and bouncy being let out from their bays after a nights sleep.........

Busy cleaning the bays and changing bedding.......

Awww.........you silly Miss Poppy :) Here I am cleaning the bay, piling the beds on top of each other and you leap onto the top one for a lie down :))

HAPPY
This wonderful boy Happy deserves special mention. When I saw the first pictures of Happy I literally cringed with pain and tears flowed with deep sadness. I felt devastated seeing the appalling condition he was in. Paws and legs terribly swollen, his entire body red and full of sores. His skin raw from all the scratching and then the look in his eyes.........the depth of sadness was piercing. I cried and cried.......and somewhere within me I could almost feel wouldn't it be more humane to put him to sleep. But how wrong I was to be!!!! Charlotte always sees the possibilities and takes on very difficult cases, one of them being Happy. She started treating Happy immediately upon picking him up in the car. He was kept isolated for weeks and lovingly treated and cared for by Charl. Another month or so passed and suddenly I saw pictures of him in the orchard with the others and could read accounts of how happy and playful he was :) An amazing transformation in a dog I thought was past recovering. Seeing Happy in real life took my breath away. Not only is he in excellent condition with a lovely soft coat, a healthy strong body, but he is also the most loving dog. As soon as I entered the orchard Happy would be at my side, pressing his beautiful head again my thigh, looking up at me, closing his eyes in pure bliss when I stroked him. This is one loving boy and I pray with all my heart that he in the near future will be leaving for his forever Mama.
Happy is an excellent example of a difficult case that comes to the finca and that recovers beautifully from the loving and professional care given by 112 CC.

Beautiful Maya - the galgo supa model at 112 CC!

The three female musketeers - Hazel, Olivia and  Zoe!

Hazel and Olivia.......never too happy being on the inside!!!!

Fuzzy fury beautiful Poppy!

Puppy Olivia........little rascal she is :)
Needs a few cuddles to simmer down........
Not long before she heads off to her forever home and that spot on her forehead will be showered with kisses!

Having a nice afternoon siesta........

When night falls and dinner has been served, the fur babies get their pj's on and beds are made for the night.

Such a pretty girl in your cosy pj's.........

Time to say goodnight boys, sweet dreams and see you in the morning......

Mama Charl saying goodnight to the girls......

Lights out shortly and the dogs fall asleep to classical music on the stereo. Can you believe that!!!!! These refuge dogs not only have love, full bellies, playtime, pj's, warm bedding........but they also have background music to soothe them. So beautiful, so heartwarming how they are cared for.

Rosie - soaking up the warmth from the morning sun.........

Rosie with the stunning eyes, such an exquisite expression. Eyes that have so much depth, eyes that draw you in and make you love her.

Rosie is a real sweetheart and loves cuddles.......

Another stunning face, all so beautiful in their own unique ways.
This is Magenta, soon going home to her forever Mama & Papa in Belgium, such a lucky girl!

Darling Amber.........with the dreaded lampshade following her surgery. She had a kidney removed but is now fully recovered. A few days before I departed she and Maya did major zoomies round the orchard, lap after lap they ran. Couldn't believe how quickly Amber had recovered - so wonderful to see!

Tails up and playtime in the orchard!

Hey you two........look what I've got!!!!!

Yummy, yummy.........dentastix treat!

.........and now a chew treat!!!!
Ssshhh........don't tell Charl guys, but during my week I was sneaking down to the orchard handing out yummy treats every day.
Only the best for the fur babies!!! :)

Not quite sure how to get started on the dentastix but soon got the hang of it!

Now that's a HUGE chew for you Maya!!!!!!

Amber:  please.......do not disturb until I'm finished with my chew!!!

The lovely Lady!
It amazes me that no one has shown interest in adopting this stunning girl. She so deserves her own family and I so hope someone sets eyes on her and feels she's "the one".

Family dogs Niebla, Clara and Ambo. Very often come down to the gate of the orchard when Charl is busy there.

Hello Niebla  - the finca watch dog! How has work been progressing today?

Ambo & Clara

Darling Ebs - waiting for Mummy Charl outside the orchard. He always wants to keep an eye on his Mummy, has to know where she is..........

Hmmmm.........hard work being the FINCA WATCH DOG!!!!!

........and following such an arduous hard days work, it is only befitting to be served dinner  in bed!!!!!!

Oh my goodness...........who is this adorable wee princess??!!!

May I introduce Elisabeth (Beth), the new family member. Sofia's very own dog, a surprise Christmas present and Sofia was the happiest girl in the world when she opened the box :)

Sadly Sofia lost her beloved cat Azlan in an accident recently and she was heartbroken and so very sad...........Azlan is now in cat heaven and will always be remembered and have a very special place in Sofia's heart. And I think Azlan is smiling down from where he is seeing how happy Sofia is once more.

Hi....... my name is Beth and EVERYONE seems to love me!!!!!

Since I brought small Xmas gifts to the family and none to Beth as I didn't know of her existence......I surprised Sofia and bought this lovely warm fleece coat for baby Beth.

A lovely girl with her beloved dog.

Sofia is without a shadow of doubt Beth's Mama. As soon as Sofia is elsewhere Beth runs around and whimpers wondering where she is.

A puppy LOVES to play and Mama's slipper is the best toy to grab!!!!

Bailey - Charl's beloved horse

Munching away......nothing like a bit of fresh hay!

Giving Bailey a bit of a brush down and telling her how special she is.

Mama Charl gives Bailey a horsey kiss - blowing into her nostril :)

Bailey doesn't get to ride that often since there are not enough hours in the day for Charl.........so she does lunge training with her which is good for getting rid of some energy.
Charl looked like a real pro! Not surprising since she's worked as a riding instructor in the past.........

I love you Bailey and just like I sneaked away LOTS of treats to the dogs every day I gave you apples and carrots.
If only I had been an experienced horse person then I would have taken you for rides............

OK........... a lot of folded stuff, so whats the big deal you might think! Well, it took me hours getting all in order as it was a shambles on the floor and I thought that putting things in order would be nice. This is just an example of something you can help Charl with when visiting. There are dozens and dozens of things to do aside from the daily chores of looking after the dogs. And Charl needs to spend a lot of time with paper/computer work so the time to do something like this simply doesn't exist.

Yepp........pretty pleased with myself! So a cup of tea is certainly well deserved!!!!

Hello, hello.........who does this beautiful face belong to??!! ..........and what's so interesting on the other side?

Awww...........it's Sebastian with baby Beth!

Zara and Rosie might be feeling "Mama feelings" seeing wee Beth.........

And look!............here is darling Adina. Adina that not many weeks ago came to the finca a skeleton. Seeing the first pictures of her made me look away.....I didn't want to see. She was at Pacos (the vet) some days initially, assessing her condition and we all wondered if she had the willpower to go on living. And YES she did- this incredibly loving girl is on track. She's put on weight but needs much more. Gets three "special" meals a day and has double coats so she isn't cold.

Charl telling Adina how beautiful she is in her new coat. This is a lovely and warm coat made by Helen Forrester in the UK. It was made for my Milou but turned out to be a bit big so Helen kindly donated it to 112 CC. Milou will soon be receiving a new coat from Helen so he and Adina will be "twins" :)

And the lovely Zara also had to try on the new coat.....

Dear, sweet Zara........came to the finca with a broken leg, that's how she was found and that's just one of many horrid gruesome injuries inflicted on galgos by the galgueros.
How I HATE those hunters!!!!!!

Lovely seeing Zara relaxing with a chew. She has heaps of energy and does zoomies of happiness as soon as you come in to her. So full of love and can't get enough cuddles.........she will make her forever family so very happy :)

Now who is this "pink" beauty???
This is Eva, she is latest dog to arrive at the finca. I was amazed at how quickly she adjusted to her new environment and she seems a very balanced and happy girl. Doesn't suffer the severe anxiety that many others do when they arrive.
And guess what.........Eva has already been reserved and will be moving to the US!!!!!

Yepp.........the Swedish lady that is visiting is sure generous with the treats!!!!!!
Eva knew exactly what to do with the chew :)

Good morning girls, breakfast served, hope it's to your liking!

Special moment.....me taking Rosie for her first EVER walk outside on a leash. She did so well, really proud of her!

There's an air of excitement when parcels arrive at the finca. A box full of lovely things from someone generous. As always, so appreciated............

Mr Ebs & Kenya
Kenya who sadly had to have her leg amputated but she is doing amazingly well. As I write the lampshade has gone and there is no one that does as speedy zoomies as Kenya. She's all over the place and I honestly think she doesn't even notice that one leg is missing :)

The lovely Niebla, someone the children LOVE to hug. So sturdy, so protective....... with Niebla all at the finca are safe!

Ooops......Dobi, don't worry.......I'm the expert poop scooper and will be there to clean up in a second!

Clara - Ebs soulmate!

This picture shows that a disability in no way makes you less beautiful!

Kenya.......in the early morning sun, coolish out so still in her pj's.

Dobi - been with family some 7 or so months. Was so scared when he arrived, petrified if you looked at or approached him. Today a totally different dog........all affection and then I mean ALL!!! He comes to you and presses his head in your lap and loves to be stroked. A boisterous and so loveable boy. Charl loves him to bits.......she's always wanted a Doberman and she's got the best ever!

Ambo - the family's first galgo, been with them since a puppy.

Ambo had a tactic he believed to be worthwhile. In the morning if I came outside to have my breakfast in the sun.......he would come and then firmly plant his big head in my lap. So convinced that this tactic would inevitably mean part of my breakfast would be shared with him. Did his tactic work? Well.......I'll leave you wondering about that one ;)

A visit to the perrera. You always have to brace yourself going to the perrera knowing there are so many unfortunate souls there that don't have a tomorrow :(
This day we were visiting the four dogs that Charl has in residence, until there is space at the finca to bring them home
.

We put their pj's on......the evening is cold and it is hard to leave them at the perrera......

The boy that has been named Legend

.......and Mama Charl reassures Legend that all will be well. He has no idea what lies ahead but we know that this darling boy already is reserved for adoption!!!

Mama Charl making sure the beds are ok and cosy before we leave.
Charl can never really relax until the dogs she has in residence (at the perrera) finally arrive at the finca. Once at the finca, they're home and there she feels in control and can watch over these darling souls.

Dioni and his Father at work in the quarantine bay, preparing for a new rubber flooring. So much more hygienic for the dogs and a lot easier to clean! The dream is to be able to afford rubber flooring in ALL the bays!!!

This is the latest rescue at the finca and he's been named Dave. He is a difficult case suffering severe anxiety and will require long rehabilitation which sadly means staying in the quarantine bay indefinitely!!!

Rosie - off to Paco (the vet) for sterilization.

Zara also came along as Charl wanted to make sure that the pins in her leg were ok........

Good girl Rosie.........nothing to be frightened of.

.....and good girl Zara for letting Paco check your leg. All looked ok he thought!

With this view from Pacos's clinic it's a wonder they have any time for work!!!!!!

.....later the next day we collected a drowsy Rosie from her sterilization. All gone well and home to the finca with a sleepy girl.

Pauline delivered Charity and Eva to Charlotte. Here at the vets for a check-up and registration.
Beautiful girls, thin, anxious but without visible scars.

Seeking comfort from each other in this new and strange situation......

Charity is a beauty with such a lovely head and expressive eyes. Sadly she has heartworm and will remain at the vets for some 3 weeks undergoing intensive treatment. I've just heard from Charlotte that she is petrified at the vets, suffering severe anxiety, making it very difficult for anyone to approach her. Charlotte visited Charity and was the first person that could touch and caress her. Charl will do anything and everything in her power to mentally heal this girl. It can take as long as it takes but she'll never give up on her. I am totally convinced that with tender love and care Charlotte & family will be able to rebuild confidence in this poor girl and give her a life....... a life that she so desperately deserves.
Prayers for you Charity.......prayers that you will soon be free from the dark demons of your gruesome past.

Such a good girl Eva........ all was well and she could come home with us :)

Ebs, just woken up from snoozings.........

Ebs & Clara, as so often sleeping closely together. So lovely to see how they have bonded......

BFF's - Clara & Ebs!

Darling wee BB and Charls beloved pussy Mocha..........both VERY displeased that the fire has died out!!!!!

.........but now all is well. Fire going again and getting toasty warm.

Ambo:  I give up!!!!! No matter how hard I try to get Mummy's attention, she's too absorbed in that darn mobile of hers!!!!!!! Can't understand how that tiny strange thing can be more important than me!!!!!!!!!

New Years Eve and guests arrive!!!!!! Santina & Martin and their Tarzan :)

Awwwww..........look at Tarzan, can't believe that we meet again!!!!!

Bless you Tarzi, my Godson! So proud to be your Swedish Godmother. You are so incredibly handsome and with that soft, gentle look in your eyes.
You're so very loved by your Mama & Papa!

........and equally loved by Mama Charl. She found you, she was there when you were captured that late night 4 months ago, she rehabilitated you and then introduced you to your forever Mama & Papa. She will always love you and always be there for you.

Dioni - host of the house and a man of the kitchen!!

Beautiful special ladies!

Baby Beth and BB get New Years cuddles!

Happy times with lovely friends!

I'm also very happy and proud to be BB's Godmother. This tiny wee pod girl instantly took my heart and knowing her sad background makes you love her all the more.
Neizan saved BB from the perrera and since that day they have a very close and touching relationship.

Tarzan - stunning boy.
All sighthounds are beautiful in their own unique way but some have that something extra that make them "head turners". And Tarzan is one of those....simply drop dead gorgeous!!!!

Baby Beth is not surprisingly the centre of attraction........

.........and goes from arms to arms!

Some of the delicious New Years buffé.

This was a new tradition for me.......in Spain you eat 12 grapes, one per second before the clock strikes 24.00 hrs!!!!! I tried but failed as I had 2 left when clock hit the magic hour :)

Santina and Neizan ready to pour the champagne for the Happy New Year cheers!!!!

Almost the end of my weeks stay and the lovely Mckellar's visited - how nice to meet Chrissy and David again!

David introducing Baby Beth to a "different" galga :)

There is love in the air!!!!!!
Baby Beth's eyes meet David's.............love all around at the finca :)

And who cannot LOVE this exquisite boy!!!!
Well I do Tarzan....and I'm so very happy that I will be able to follow your life.

Mama Santina & Papa Martin with their beautiful boy Tarzan. They came for a visit to the finca the day before my departure. So nice to spend time with them and they truly are the perfect match for Tarzan. He could not have wished for a better family.

My stay at 112 Carlota galgos has also blessed me with new friendships. Santina is such a special and precious lady and I love her calmness and spirituality. Perfect attributes for helping Tarzan let go of his fears from the past.

You are just the nicest boy to hug Tarzan. We'll meet again.......that's a promise!

Mother and son.......so much love and a special bond through the work at the finca that involves all the family.

Love you Charl........my last evening at the finca, beautiful memories from my week with you to tuck away in my heart.

Relaxing before a late dinner......

Sister & brother engrossed in game playing......

BB - the sweetest wee pod I've ever met. You were a little less frightened this visit which was so nice to see. But when I bent down towards you just a little too quickly.....you cowered and bent your head to the ground. That really pained me as it shows your horrid past has not entirely left you.

Teamwork in the kitchen, son & mother preparing dinner!

Master chef Dioni - sharpening his knife, ready to make magic in the kitchen.
A gourmet dinner my last evening at the finca!

I was given the task of brushing out the knots in Sofia's hair.  Hmm.....that was smart of Mama Charl to let me become the "hate object" in case I was too heavy on the hand! ;)

How nice isn't it sitting at the bar, enjoying a glas of wine and watching dinner being prepared!!!!!
Thank you Dioni - it was a first class dinner, really tasty. You got many brownie points for that!! ;)

And what a perfect end to my last evening having a special moment with wee BB.

This is what Ebs loves more than anything else! Lying in the sofa having cuddles with his Mama. He craves these moments on a daily basis and will make lots of noise if Charl ignores him and doesn't come when he wants her there.
He's such a character with all his "talking"!!!!!

Pinkie - it's a BIG day for you today! Today is homegoing day for you. Today you are saying farewell to the finca and travelling to the north of Spain to your new Papas.

You can't go home without being squeaky clean so I have the lovely chore of bathing you.

It's now Pinkie.......the moment has come for you that will change your life forever. You are on your way home........your Papas are waiting for you and also a little sister.
Bless you sweetest girl, I wish you all the happiness in the world, now & forever.

Dioni & Charl - beautiful, special & such loving people. You have my heart completely and thank you so much for making me feel part of your family. I love what you do, toiling away relentlessly, so committed in doing all you can for the plight of the galgos. Change cannot come overnight but with time and education the Spanish galgo will have a brighter future and you are a large part of making this happen.
Bless you both - you should be very, very proud!

Adios 112 Carlota Galgos..........

Airbourne .......Malaga disappearing, tears falling, always emotional leaving.......

Darling, sweetest Ebs - our "miracle boy", I so loved seeing you again and the life you have at the finca is perfect for you. Being winter, your main job as CFC (Chief Fly Catcher) is on the quiet side cause not many flies around. Your other important job is of course keeping an eye on your beloved Mama Charl. You always want to know what she's up to. You moan and cry a lot when you want her attention, when you are telling her that it is high time for a cuddle with you on the sofa. Keep doing this Ebs because not only are the cuddles good for you it is also very soothing and relaxing for Mama Charl to sit down a while, to stroke and kiss you and simply just cherish the moment.

I'll be seeing you again darling boy........that's a promise! xoxoxoxox
